Two Day Welsh Scrambling Adventure
Climb 2 Welsh Classics – Tryfan and Snowdon, with wild camping
This 2-day scrambling adventure over the highest mountains in Wales is a classic!
We will meet in Wales on the Friday evening, spending the night in the Nant Gwynant Youth Hostel. The hostel is situated in a stunning location overlooking Lan Gwynant with impeccable views of Mt. Snowdon. It serves hearty food and a good pint of real ale. Here we will look over the maps and route, discussing the plan for the following day.
Leaving our cars and the rat race behind we’ll head into the remote Welsh mountains. Firstly we begin by setting off upon the historic Watkin Path through possibly the most dramatic scenery in all of the UK, which leads to the summit of Mt. Snowdon. The trail starts with ease as we walk through lush hillside to the bottom of a steep cwm, which slowly steepens into rocky mountain terrain. We will continue along an easy scramble upon the East Ridge to gain the summit of Mt. Snowdon. From here we can see across the entire Snowdonia range and out all the way across to the Irish Sea! After soaking in the views we’ll head off the summit to our camp for the night.
Your guide will help with cooking up a hearty meal before bed and to fetch drinking water from a fresh mountain spring. The next day is a pleasant walk, taking in a good variety of mountain scenery before reaching the base of Tryfan.
After this exhilarating day in the hills it’s back to the village and civilisation for tea and cakes before departing for home.
