Trip Grading

Himalayan Sunset

This trip is considered moderate. Most people who are reasonably fit should be able to complete the trek without too much challenge. Our Pikey Peak trek is in a very remote area and offers a great insight into the real Nepal. However, this also means that lodges are more rustic than lodges on the popular trekking routes, so an open and patient approach to travel is required.

We have many options to extend the walk or climb, so it’s an ideal trek for groups with varying fitness levels. Our excellent staff:trekker ratios make sure you never feel like you are being held up or holding others up.

What’s included?

  • 3 nights in hotel accommodation in Kathmandu
  • 7 nights in teahouse accommodation
  • Included meals: All meals while trekking, breakfasts, welcome and farewell dinner in Kathmandu. There is a wide selection of Western, Chinese and Nepalese food on offer, so we’ll let you choose what you want on the trek.
  • Airport transfers to and from the airport on the first and last day
  • All transportation for duration of tour (unless otherwise specified)
  • Entrance fees and trekking permits
  • Porters and support staff to carry luggage
  • 1 fully qualified, first aid trained Trekking Guide
  • Sufficient means of communication. Satellite phones can be rented on request for £10 per day.
  • Guides will check in with our office to get regular bespoke weather updates and confirm locations
  • Financial protection: we are an ABTA and ATOL bonded and insured, UK based tour operator
  • Pre-departure support and advice by email, phone and face to face meetings in York if you would like. After booking with us we will send you a highly informative and comprehensive trip information pack
  • Remote medical support from specialist doctors
  • Small groups. No more than 12 people on a set departure trip.
  • Trekking kit bag
  • We don’t force a fast or slow pace. Our teams are supported with plenty of staff so you can walk at your own pace. We let you walk at the pace that is right for you.
  • Our guides and porters are paid fairly, properly equipped and fully insured for rescue and medical emergencies
  • Map of the trekking route
  • T-shirt
  • If you’d like to meet some of our team and experience our services beforehand, you can join us on one of our UK adventures.

What’s not included?

  • Travel insurance (mandatory)
  • Items of a personal nature (drinks, snacks, souvenirs, etc.)
  • Nepalese visa (available to buy on arrival at Kathmandu airport from USD30)
  • Tips to porters/local guide
  • Internal flights, if you choose to fly instead of drive.
  • Airport transfers taken outside of the itinerary’s arrival and departure dates

Travelling to Nepal

You’ll need a passport with 6-month’s validity as well as a Nepalese visa. The best way to obtain this is to buy it on entry to Nepal in any major currency but not Nepali Rupees. Typically, the cost is USD30 for 15 days.

You’ll also need travel insurance and you should visit your GP or a health professional at least 4-6 weeks before you travel to check which vaccinations you may need.

For more info on travelling safely and obtaining a visa, see the FCO Know Before You Go campaign.

What Our Guests Say

Nepal

“Extremely well organised and the guide (Krishna) and porter (Binod) were fantastic and made the trip one to remember. Krishna really went out of his way to ensure my safety and enjoyment of the trek. Richard, the principle in the firm personally oversaw the initial contact with the guide which made all the difference. I would thoroughly recommend Lost Earth Adventures.” – Jim Ramshaw
