Peak to Peak Mega Challenge
Massive Charity Adventure Challenge in the Peak District
20 km Off Road Cycle, 12 km Walk up a Mountain, 3 km Canyoning Descent
Experience the very best the Peak District has to offer on this three stage endurance event. Spend 8-10 hours ascending 2,337 metres and travelling 35 kilometres by pedals, feet and ropes to discover the treasures of the Peak; surreal peat moonscapes complete with gigantic craters; rugged gritstone edges famous the world-over for their gnarly climbing; and the hidden green world in Fairbrook Clough where we’re pretty sure the fairies live.
Take on the challenge and push yourself to:
- Summit 2 peaks on superb mountain bike trails.
- Reach the summit of Kinder Scout on foot, the highest point in the national park.
- Abseil, scramble and pool-jump 3km of a steep rapid fuelled canyon, one of the Peak District’s best kept secrets!
It’s a tough challenge – but one that is achievable by anyone with reasonable fitness and bucketfuls of enthusiasm! The distance for the biking is flexible and can be shortened or lengthened depending on your requirements.
For charity events
Our Peak to Peak Mega Challenge is ideal for charity events. It’s a tailor-made challenge, so people are often more likely to donate for your cause. As with all of our charity challenges, the event will be privately run by us, so your charitable cause takes centre-stage. You can open up the event to others if you’d prefer. Just let us know when you book your challenge.
Itinerary and Activities
All of our itineraries are meticulously researched and well planned. They are designed to give you the most amounts of fun and excitement, whilst seeing some outstanding views. Lost Earth Adventures takes the hassle out of organising your trip, leaving you to enjoy your adventure!
Starting in the heart of the national park, you will leave the crowds behind as you climb up and out of the Hope Valley. The scenery on this ride is guaranteed to distract you from any tiredness! The riding is suitable for novice bikers, and you can jump off and walk at any point if you feel more comfortable.
The skyline above you is punctuated with iconic gritstone edges. Riding through heather and past fascinating rocky outcrops, two bursts of energy will take you up to the summits of two peaks in the Peak! The descents back into the valley are along flowing grassy trails and can be taken at whatever speed you choose.
At Edale, leave your bikes behind to begin the trek up Kinder Scout. Good trails take you all the way up to its fantastic moonscaped summit. Looking otherworldly, you can spend a bit of time jumping into the peaty craters (you’re never too old for this!) and admire the panoramic view which reaches all the way to the summits of Snowdownia on a good day.
Leave the typical day trippers behind as you traverse the entire Kinder plateau and drop off the cliffs and into the river for Stage 3.
Quickly don your wesuits and helmets ready for the homestretch. The cold water of the gorge will be good for getting rid of any lactic acid in your muscles as you start the 3km canyoning descent. Climb and abseil down waterfalls, jump from rock ledges into freshwater pools and slide down natural chutes. Undoubtedly the most fun way to end an endurance event. Don’t forget to look up though, the steep-sides of the valley above are only this impressive from the bottom of the gorge!
Location
The challenge starts in Bamford, Derbyshire in the Hope Valley and finishes at the Snake Pass Inn. This event is close to Glossop, Manchester, Sheffield, Hathersage, Hope, Castleton, Bakewell, Buxton, Leeds and Bradford.
