Peak to Peak Mega Challenge
Massive Adventure Challenge in the Peak District
30km Mountain Walk, 1km Gorge Descent
Experience the very best the Peak District has to offer on this two-stage endurance event. Spend 6-8 hours circumnavigating the Kinder Summit Plateau, travelling 31-kilometres by foot, rope and river to discover the treasures of the Dark Peak.
Surreal peat moonscapes, complete with gigantic craters, rugged gritstone edges and the hidden green water-world where we’re pretty sure the fairies live.
Itinerary and Activities
- Walk 30km through some of the most spectacular upland scenery in the Peak District.
- Summit Kinder Scout, the highest point in the national park.
- Abseil, scramble and pool-jump 1km of a steep rapid-fuelled gorge, one of the Peak District’s best kept secrets!
- It’s a tough challenge – but one that is achievable by anyone with reasonable fitness and bucketfuls of enthusiasm!
Starting in the heart of the national park, you will leave the crowds behind as you climb up and out of the Hope Valley. The route takes you through heather moorland, over gritstone edges, and across peat bog plateaus. The scenery is guaranteed to distract you from any tiredness!
The 30km journey leads you over rolling hills, along ridges with panoramic views, and finally towards the wild heart of Kinder Scout. You’ll pass fascinating rock formations, remote valleys, and wide-open skies – the Peak District at its best.
Quickly don your wetsuits and helmets ready for the grand finale. The fresh, exhilarating water of the gorge will be good for getting rid of any lactic acid in your muscles as you start the 1km canyoning descent. Climb and abseil down waterfalls, jump from rock ledges into freshwater pools and slide down natural chutes. Undoubtedly the most fun way to end an endurance event.
