Trip Grading

Langtang mountains

We’ve graded this trip as moderate. We trek into a fairly remote part of Nepal at higher altitudes than you are probably used to. There is a variety of steep ascents and descents and we sometimes trek for up to 6-9 hours per day. As such, some degree of fitness will make this trip more enjoyable. However, the trekking here is fairly gentle and we regularly take people in their 60s on this trek.

We have many options to extend the walk or climb, so it’s an ideal trek for groups with varying fitness levels. Our excellent staff:trekker ratios make sure you never feel like you are being held up or holding others up.

What’s included?

  • 4 nights in hotel accommodation in Kathmandu and 10 nights in teahouse accommodation
  • Included meals: All meals while trekking, breakfasts, welcome and farewell dinner in Kathmandu (there is a large selection of Western, Chinese and Nepalese food available at the teahouses – you choose the meals)
  • Airport transfers to and from the airport
  • All transportation (unless otherwise stated)
  • Entrance fees and trekking permits
  • Porters and support staff to carry luggage
  • 1 fully qualified, first aid trained Trekking Guide
  • Means of communication – satellite phones can be rented at £10 per day
  • Financial protection: we are an ABTA and ATOL bonded and insured, UK based tour operator
  • Comprehensive trip information pack
  • Pre-departure support and advice: by email, phone or in-person (York)
  • Trekking kit bag
  • Remote medical support from specialist doctors
  • Small groups. No more than 12 people on a set departure trip
  • We don’t force a fast or slow pace. We support our treks with plenty of staff so we let you walk at the pace that is right for you.
  • Our guides and porters are paid fairly, properly equipped and fully insured for rescue and medical emergencies
  • Guided tours of the three temples of Kathmandu
  • Map of the Langtang Valley
  • T-shirt

If you’d like to meet some of our team and experience our services beforehand you can join us on one of our UK adventures.

What’s not included?

  • Travel insurance (mandatory)
  • Items of a personal nature (drinks, snacks, souvenirs, etc.)
  • Nepalese visa (available to buy on arrival at Kathmandu airport from USD30)
  • Scenic Everest mountain flight
  • Tips to porters/local guide
  • Airport transfers taken outside of the itinerary’s arrival and departure dates

Travelling to Nepal

You’ll need a passport with 6-month’s validity as well as a Nepalese visa. The best way to obtain this is to buy it on entry to Nepal in any major currency but not Nepali Rupees. Typically, the cost is USD30 for 15 days.

You’ll also need travel insurance and you should visit your GP or a health professional at least 4-6 weeks before you travel to check which vaccinations you may need.

For more info on travelling safely and obtaining a visa, see the FCO Know Before You Go campaign.

What Our Guests Say

Nepal

“Thank you all at Lost Earth for a truly wonderful adventure. It was very hard at first but what a wonderful experience it turned out to be. Both Tina and I would like also to mention our two wonderful Sherpa guides Krishna and Laxman who both contributed to making life more comfortable and saw to our every need. It was like having a personal butler. Richard (Mr Lost Earth) was also with us and added a personal touch to the tour.

I would recommend this holiday to people with a sense of adventure and love to see more interesting parts of the world. Top marks to all concerned.”
