Bangkok with its soulful charm is a city you won’t forget! Arrive in Bangkok and spend the afternoon discovering hidden temples, energetic markets or indulge in authentic Thai street food! In the evening take an overnight train to Vientiane (Laos). Optional – Take a flight to Vientiane and we’ll pick you up at the airport and provide accommodation in Laos for no extra charge. This will save you the overnight on a train.
Day 2 – Vang Vieng (free day)
Arrive in Vientiane in the morning and drive by private mini bus to Vang Vieng (3-4 hours). Vang Vieng is the adventurer’s enclave of South East Asia, situated amongst stunning karst limestone mountains, lush jungle, caves and villages.
Spend the day biking through small villages, rice paddies and mountainous terrain. There is also an opportunity to explore caves in the area.
Day 4 – Kayak the Nam Lik
Kayak the Nam Lik, providing the perfect mixture of calm waters with an exciting although optional section of grade 2 rapids. Discover traditional Laos life along the river and spectacular scenery!
Day 5 – Bus to Luang Prabang (free evening)
Bus to Luang Prabang (6 hours) and have the evening free to explore one of Laos’ best night markets in this UNESCO-listed World Heritage Site.
Spend the next two days trekking beyond Luang Prabang through jungle, rice paddies, lush countryside and villages of hill tribes, staying overnight in a local Hmong homestay.
Day 8 – Explore Kuang Si Waterfalls
Spend a relaxing day at the impressive 7-tiered, 50m high Kuang Si waterfalls. Swim in its refreshing turquoise lagoons or if you like you can hike to the top of the falls. This is paradise!
We’ll have a group farewell dinner at a local restaurant in the evening.
Day 9 – Bus to Vientiane
Early morning bus to Vientiane where you will take an overnight sleeper train back to Bangkok. Optional – Take a flight to Bangkok and we’ll drop you off at vientiane airport and provide accommodation in Laos for no extra charge. This will save you the overnight on a train.
Arrive in Bangkok in the morning and have the rest of the day to explore this fascinating city. Don’t miss the Grand Palace and its Temple of the Emerald Buddha!
