Guided Climb of Kinder Scout

Summit the Highest Mountain in Derbyshire

Surreal Moon Walking on the Peak District’s Highest Summit

Charity hiking group on the summit of Kinder ScoutThis peak is without a doubt the most fun and adventure you can have walking in the Peak District. A favourite hike amongst scout troops and school groups, those testing their DofE expedition skills and anyone with a sense of humour and hankering for a good adventure!

The trek is perfect on a dry and sunny day, but equally amusing in the wet. This walk is guaranteed to put a smile on your face and some mud on your boots.

Climbing Kinder Scout for Charity?

Many people walk up Kinder to raise money for charity. If this is your plan, we’ll be with you all the way! Most charities have sponsorship packs that will help support you – including offering a sponsorship form to track fundraising. If you don’t receive this, Lost Earth Adventures can send you one of our generic forms. For more details, including fundraising tips, visit our charity challenges page.

Hiking in Derbyshire

Suggested Route

Altitude Gain: 635m – Distance: 8.8 miles (14.2km) – Time: 5-6 Hours
There are many routes to the top and we can take you on any of them, but our favourite is a circular route starting in the village of Edale. The trail goes up via Grinds Brook, climbing steadily to the summit plateau of the Peak’s highest mountain, where quite possibly the world’s largest peat bog lies ahead! The terrain looks like a bewildering and wild moonscape. We can head to Kinder Downfall, an impressive waterfall with lofty views over a green and golden landscape or check out some WW2 aircraft wrecks.
