Additional Days of Mountain Biking

Our guides have been pioneering trails in Nepal for years. Lost Earth Adventures' co-founder Richard Goodey spends six months of the year in Nepal and a large portion of that is spent on two wheels. Getting out of Kathmandu and gaining a couple of thousand meters of height can be done quickly in a powerful 4X4. We'll get high on the mountain tops via a dirt road then either spend the day doing down-hill laps using the jeep or we can go on single or multi-day cross country excursions.

Let us know what it is you want to do, your preferred style of riding, your ability and let us do the planning. We charge £150 per day for a qualified guide with first aid certification and £50 per day for full suspension bike rental.

Unlimited use of a 4X4 and driver for for 8 hours is £250

Hotel in Kathmandu is £50/60 single/twin room per night

Heli Biking

Think the jeep is too slow? Don't want to waste time driving when you should be riding? We understand. With unlimited use of a heli for you and your group, why wait? If this is the type of high adrenaline action you crave, then we're with you all the way!

Upgrades

If you would like to treat yourself before or after your grand adventure, we are more than happy to arrange alternative accommodation. We also appreciate how lovely a little bit of lavish comfort can be when you are away from home and can recommend the following hotels for a touch of 5-star luxury in Kathmandu.

Mountain Bikes

The bikes we use on this adventure are full suspension Giant Trance X 3's or similar. You are welcome to bring your own bike with you for the trip but please contact us to discuss logistics.

Days 3-6 - Downhill Mountain Biking in the Annapurna’s

We take a short, but spectacular flight in a light aircraft and land in the remote town of Jomsom. The flight offers unparalleled views of Annapurna (8091m) and Dhaulagiri (8167m), the world’s 7th and 10th highest peaks. We continue via jeep to Muktinath – a breathtaking 3700 metres above sea level.

We are surrounded by rugged mountain landscapes and are deep into the heart of the Annapurnas. This is where we’ll begin the ultimate downhill!

biking tour nepal
We spend the next 3-days on one of the most exhilarating downhill rides in Nepal, descending 3000m from the high alpine into the foothills of the Himalaya. We'll wind our way down steep single track, rarely used dirt trails and over suspension bridges perched high above the Kali Gandaki through the deepest gorge on earth. We continue our descent, surrounded by the Annapurna Massif and Dhaulagiri. No matter your riding style, there's something to please everyone. In the evenings, treat yourself to an ice-cold beer or a dram of the local apple brandy and tuck into a hearty, well-deserved meal. Accommodation is spent in teahouses in remote villages that dot the paths we use.
paragliding in nepal
Day 7 – Free Day in Pokhara

A fantastic opportunity to explore this tranquil town and to experience the many activities on offer. Paragliding and motorcycling for the adrenaline junkies or for nature lovers there are bat caves and eagle watching. End a perfect day by witnessing the sun setting on the Himalayas from the World Peace Pagoda or treat yourself to a fresh lassi (traditional yoghourt based drink) at one of Pokhara’s many restaurants. This day is also a contingency day for the tour in the event of any changes in Nepal

Day 8 – Return to Kathmandu

We return to Kathmandu following the gorge of the Trisuli River, arriving in Kathmandu in the afternoon. Wander around the medieval Durbar Square in the heart of the city, sample some Newari cuisine, or shop for some locally made handicrafts and souvenirs.

We will have a group farewell dinner in the evening at a local restaurant.

Day 9 – Depart for Home

Unfortunately it’s the end of this adventure. Lost Earth Adventures group services end after breakfast. Transfers to the airport are complimentary. See you next time!

Trip Grading

Mountain Bike Holiday Nepal
This trip is considered to be challenging. We spend time at higher altitudes than you are probably used to. We go to fairly remote regions of Nepal where infrastructure and services are limited. Mountain biking features some technical descents and you should be confident as a rider.
We appreciate that in a group there will be many different speeds of walker/rider and we don’t ever want you to feel like you are holding up a group or being held up. Having plenty of guides and porters allow for us to change itineraries and the pace easily. We will have 2 guides on a set departure/open group event. Private tours will have 2 guides on groups larger than 8.
