Wet n Wild Gorge Walking in Yorkshire

Posted on: July 22nd, 2013 by Lost Earth Adventures

The sun’s been shining and the weather’s been sublime!

Lucky for the crew at Lost Earth Adventures our HQ is in the great, big outdoors! And we’ve certainly been taking advantage of it.

This past weekend saw co-founder Sarah Allard and her team leading a pack of boisterous stag’s (35 of them and a Lost Earth record!) into one of our favourite gorges in the stunning Nidderdale Valley.

The stag and his gang showed up slightly blurry eyed and bushy tailed, but raring to go, excited for what was to come.

After kitting up into some form fitting wetsuits, the lads showed their best sides and made their way to the day’s first obstacle…

A free hanging 45-foot abseil!

The stag looked over the edge with trepidation in his tight and bright, orange and yellow wetsuit before taking the committing and exhilarating plunge into the unknown! He took it in stride, and showed the rest of the boys how it’s done.

For the next couple of hours we were in the deep walls of the gorge, exploring the canyon.

We climbed over boulders, jumped into deep pools and explored caves formed thousand of years before us, home to bats, stalactites and the legend of a notorious highwayman.

The water was cool and refreshing, offering respite from the summer temps (despite what the lads were saying!). All in all a fantastic day, getting wet and wild in Yorkshire.

Thanks to everyone that made this a great and memorable weekend of adventure and congratulations to Mark on his upcoming nuptials!
