My Best School Trip Award – Finalists!

Abbeymead School’s trip with us named as Finalist in “My Best School Trip Awards”.

We’re over the moon to share some brilliant news: Abbeymead Primary School has been shortlisted as a finalist in the 2025 School Travel Organiser “My Best School Trip” Award!

Earlier this year, their pupils joined us for a residential adventure in Eryri (Snowdonia), where they took on the challenge of hiking to the summit of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). For many, it was their very first mountain climb—an unforgettable introduction to the wild beauty of North Wales.

A Journey of Discovery
The trip wasn’t just a climb to the summit of Yr Wyddfa—it was a full adventure in every sense. From setting out together in the early morning mist to encouraging one another when the path grew steep, the children discovered the value of perseverance, teamwork, and shared achievement.

Amy, from Abbeymead, reflected on the experience:
“The young adventurers pushed themselves further than they ever thought possible. For many, it was their first time experiencing such a dramatic and awe-inspiring landscape. Towering peaks and winding valleys they’d only seen in geography lessons suddenly became real.”

Why This Matters
The “My Best School Trip” Award celebrates educational visits that go beyond the ordinary—experiences that open children’s eyes, build resilience, and create memories that last a lifetime. For Abbeymead, the climb wasn’t just an outdoor challenge. It was a chance to see learning come alive, with geography, teamwork, and personal growth blending into one powerful adventure.

For us at Lost Earth Adventures, this is exactly what school residentials are all about. Helping young people step out of their comfort zones, encouraging them to support one another, and showing them the incredible classroom that exists in the great outdoors.

Looking Ahead
The winners of the award will be revealed at the School Travel Organiser Awards ceremony in London on Friday 21st November 2025. If Abbeymead takes the top spot, they’ll receive £2,000 towards a future educational visit —a fantastic opportunity to inspire even more pupils through the power of adventure.

A Proud Moment
Whatever happens in November, being named a finalist is already a huge achievement. We’re incredibly proud of Abbeymead Primary for their courage, spirit, and determination. Watching the children reach the summit of Yr Wyddfa was inspiring in itself—this recognition is the icing on the cake.

So, here’s to the pupils, the staff, and everyone who made the trip happen. And here’s to more schools discovering that when young people are given the chance to explore, challenge themselves, and embrace the outdoors, the results can be life-changing.
